PREDICTIONS ROUND 2 NHL PLAYOFFS

Ok well as first round predictions go It wasn't an outstanding success. Here is how I called them;

EAST BRACKET:

BRUINS in 5: Got that one right
What happened: Nothing I got it right.

LIGHTNING  in 7: Wrong and not disappointed to have been;
What happened? I used reverse psychology. It worked

PENS in 6: Got the right team but the wrong amount of games to do it
What happened? Columbus came to play and I had the series as my Holy crap series....it almost happened.

FLYERS in 7: Got the number of games right but not the winner:
What happened? Thought the Flyers had more drive to go deep in this years playoffs...nope!

TOTAL SCORE: 2 right 2 wrong

WEST BRACKET:

DUCKS in 5: Got the winner right not the games. Ducks were a little flippy floppy.
What happened? Nothing the Ducks won didn't they.

SHARKS in 7: Failed..just like the Sharks have been doing for 16 years in playoffs.
What Happened? I played the odds and One word for you ''CHOKE!''

AVS in 6: Got all excited and giddy over King Patrick and his team. Good run for his first year.
What Happened? Thought youth and excitement could get past the grind and slower then molasses Wild

HAWKS in 7: Believed they would win with their best guys back in the line up.
What happened? Blues didn't know how to close...reference Sharks, blues the new sharks of the NHL?

TOTAL SCORE: 2 right, 2 wrong


ROUND 2 OK! On to round 2. So here they are and why. With some help from some representatives from each team.

EAST BRACKET

HABS vs BRUINS: Bruins in 6. Yes..yes..yes I know. But no matter how much the Quebecois want it to ''sent la coupe'' it doesn't not with this team. Remember ''reverse psychology''.
Why: Because if I say Boston and believe Boston then maybe just maybe the Habs will prove me wrong!

PENS vs RANGERS: PENS in 6. The Pens can't play that crappy all the time.
Why: Have to believe the Pens have way more depth then the Rangers regardless of the late season changes.

WEST BRACKET


HAWKS vs WILD: Hawks in 5. Yeah i'm not taking the Wild no matter what.
Why: See above comment.

KINGS vs DUCKS:  Kings in 6 Could be a great series if Ducks show up to play.
Why: Kings have what it takes to go back to the Cup final. They proved that coming back from 3 games. Plus my oldest son is routing for them.

OH and one for the ladies;

So there you have it friends. Lets see what happens. Maybe Round two will be a little better in the prediction category.

2014 NHL PREDICTIONS

Well I have not done an NHL playoff post since 2011 but seeing as The Montreal Canadiens are the only team taking part in the Post 2014 Regular Season and given the new NCAA style bracket I though I would entertain myself...and perhaps give you a few laughs. So here are my FIRST ROUND predictions and why.

FIRST ROUND

EAST BRACKET:

BRUINS vs RED WINGS: BRUINS in 5. WHY? Red Wings are tired and old. A sad reflection of where the great city of Detroit is right now. The Bruins are big, ugly and strong.

LIGHTNING vs HABS: LIGHTNING in 7. WHY? Bishop doubtful for the first or second game will prolong this series. My Habs, while I love them will show their true lack of depth during this series, regardless of the acquisition of Vanek. Hope I am wrong on this one!

PENS vs BLUE JACKETS: PENS in 5. WHY? Lack of Jackets playoff experience as a team. Pens will not lose this series regardless of health challenges.

RANGERS vs. FLYERS: FLYERS IN 7. WHY? Regardless of the changes to the Rangers there low goals against average ( 2nd best in the EAST) and the acquisition of St Louis they will not have enough to match the Flyers who will be playing like a team possessed.

POTENTIAL'' HOLY CRAP? DID THAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN'' UPSET:  Blue Jackets


WEST BRACKET:

DUCKS vs STARS: DUCKS in 5. WHY? Ducks scoring power.

SHARKS vs KINGS: SHARKS in 7. WHY? Because sooner or later the Sharks have to win in the playoffs...and now is sooner then later.

AVALANCHE vs WILD: AVS in 6. WHY? The motivation of youth and the KING (Roy) perhaps making the AVS the Habs of 1986. WILD will try and grind them down ''a la Jersey Devils of old''...but it won't work.

BLUES vs. BLACKHAWKS: HAWKS in 7. WHY? With the return of Toews & Kane the Hawks will be hard to beat in round one regardless of Blues addition of Miller,their low goals against and relative fire power.

POTENTIAL'' HOLY CRAP! DID THAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN'' UPSET: Stars
